Services

I offer a number of editing, coaching, and consulting services, details of which are below. If you are a student, an ECR, or precariously employed, please get in touch to discuss pricing and payment options. Subscribers to Page by Page enjoy 10% off on all Flannery Editing client services.

I work with clients who need assistance in the development stage of a writing project, whether that project is academic, creative, or professional.

Whereas line editing and copy editing are interventions in the final stages of a writing project, developmental editing can be used to strengthen a writing project at any point between the initial draft and the line editing or copy editing stage.

Among the developmental editing services I offer:

  • manuscript assessment (general feedback on a work-in-progress)

  • developmental edit (a more in-depth assessment of a draft in the form of a detailed editorial letter, in addition to a 30-minute follow-up on Zoom)

  • developmental edit with manuscript mark-up (the in-depth assessment delivered by a general developmental edit, plus a marked-up manuscript with marginal comments and in-line suggestions)

As someone with decades of grant writing experience who has also personally been awarded millions in grants and fellowships from major funding bodies on three continents, I advise clients who are in the process of drafting grant applications to support academic work, specializing primarily in fields within the humanities and social sciences.

I offer clients a range of services in this category, including:

  • grant draft assessment (general feedback on a preliminary draft of a grant application)

  • grant draft assessment with mark-up (an in-depth assessment of a grant application’s strengths and weaknesses, accompanied by a marked-up copy of the application draft that includes marginal comments and suggested edits)

  • interview preparation (a consultation concerning interview tips and strategies as well as mock interviews via a series of online meetings)

I offer holistic support to writers aiming to gain momentum in their book projects and doctoral candidates who want to complete their dissertations in a timely manner and with as little stress as possible.

This service is a month-by-month commitment to regular virtual meetings, goal-setting, and contact via email. Unlike the other services I offer, dissertation and book coaching are offered at a monthly rate of payment, with the option of choosing from one of three packages:

Intensive (CHF 499 per month or CHF 4500 for 10 months)

This package includes:

  • 1 60-minute virtual strategizing meeting per week
  • Customized, regular reminders every day or every other day to keep you on track
  • Access to daily email contact
  • Free one-year subscription to Page by Page

Intermediate (CHF 250 per month or CHF 2250 for 10 months)

This package includes:

  • 2 60-minute virtual strategizing meetings per month
  • Customized weekly reminders to keep you on track
  • Access to weekly email contact
  • Free one-year subscription to Page by Page

Basic (CHF 150 per month or CHF 1350 for 10 months)

This package includes:

  • 1 20-minute virtual strategizing meeting per month
  • 1 40-minute virtual follow-up meeting per month
  • Customized monthly reminders to keep you on track (staggered with meetings)
  • Access to weekly email contact

Authors and doctoral candidates who are seeking dissertation or book coaching should contact me via the form at the bottom of this page for further information.

One of my most frequently used services is line editing—that is, ensuring not only that a document is grammatically and syntactically correct, but that its style, flow, and tone are both consistent and appropriate.

This service is especially valuable for non-native speakers of English. English is not only the most widely spoken language on the planet—it is also central to both the academic and business worlds. I help to ensure that my clients express themselves as clearly and correctly as possible in their theses, articles, job applications, grant applications, and web content.

For this service, my rates typically start at CHF 0.07 per word, though in some cases I may charge an agreed-upon project rate.

I ensure that my clients’ writing is not only grammatically correct, but also consistent with the house style of their target publications.
