About Me

I have worked as an editor and consultant since 2004. I specialize in helping clients craft more compelling narratives about their particular areas of interest or expertise, whether in order to move their readers or to persuade a funding body to support their work.

An international background

Experience with major academic presses

Over the course of my career, I have edited work for publication in major academic presses, including:

  • Cambridge University Press
  • Oxford University Press
  • Manchester University Press
  • Brepols
  • Palgrave Macmillan

Grant-writing experience

In my grant-writing and consulting, I draw on my personal experience of having won millions in research fellowships, publication grants, and event funding from major funding bodies in the U.S., U.K., Europe, and Australia.

Creative expertise

I bring my extensive background in both nonfiction writing and comedy writing to my work as a book coach and writing consultant. I’ve been writing essays, reviews, and opinion pieces for publications like the Times Literary Supplement, Washington Post, and History Today for nearly fifteen years. My comedy writing has been published in McSweeney’s, The Belladonna, Points In Case, Slackjaw, Jane Austen’s Wastebasket, and Defenestration, among other places.
